What Clients Are Saying
What Is an InBody Scan?
The InBody is a bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) assessment that estimates your body composition using safe, non-invasive technology. Translation: you stand on the device, hold the handles, and in a few minutes you get a detailed snapshot of what’s going on under the hood.
It’s not magic. It’s not perfect. But it’s way more useful than scale weight alone, especially when your goal is one of these:
-
Fat loss (without losing muscle)
-
Muscle gain (without spinning your wheels)
-
Body recomposition (yes, it’s real)
-
Performance improvements (strength, endurance, recovery)
-
Better metabolic health (because “healthy” is more than a number on a scale)
What Your InBody Scan Results Tell You
Your scan delivers a report that helps us look beyond “up or down” weight trends and into the stuff that matters:
Body Composition Breakdown
-
Body fat mass & body fat percentage
-
Lean body mass
-
Skeletal muscle mass (the tissue that makes you stronger and helps keep metabolism from tanking)
Segmental Analysis
We look at how your lean mass distributes through:
-
Arms
-
Legs
-
Trunk
This is huge if you’ve got imbalances, past injuries, or you’re trying to build strength more evenly.
Water Balance Insights
Hydration and fluid balance can influence how you feel, recover, and perform—and can also explain why the scale is being dramatic.
What You Get for $99
(This Is the Good Part)
A scan is easy. Interpretation is the value.
When you book with Forward Thinking Fitness, you get:
1. INBODY SCAN
Fast, non-invasive, and done in minutes.
2. IN-DEPTH ANALYSIS
(aka: “What does any of this mean?”)
We review your results with you and explain:
-
What’s improving and what’s holding you back
-
Why scale weight might be lying (even when you’re working hard)
-
Whether you’re losing fat, losing muscle, or doing the dream combo: losing fat while maintaining/building muscle
-
How your current routine is likely affecting your body comp trend
3. PROFESSIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT
You’ll walk away with recommendations you can actually use, like:
-
Training priorities (strength, hypertrophy, conditioning, recovery)
-
Realistic nutrition targets (especially protein—because most people are under-dosing it)
-
Next-step strategy for the next 2–4 weeks
-
What to stop doing if it’s wasting your time (friendly roast included, if requested)
How Often Should You Get an InBody Scan?
Most people do best with:
-
Every 4–6 weeks if you’re actively training for fat loss or muscle gain
-
Every 8–12 weeks if you’re maintaining or making slower changes
Weekly scans aren’t necessary. Your body comp doesn’t update like an iPhone.

FAQs
What does an InBody scan measure?
An InBody scan uses bioelectrical impedance analysis to estimate body composition, including measurements related to body fat, lean mass, and body water. In plain English: it gives us significantly more useful information than stepping on a bathroom scale and allowing one number to determine whether your entire week was successful.
Is an InBody scan better than weighing myself?
An InBody scan provides more information than body weight alone because two people—or the same person at two different times—can weigh exactly the same while having different amounts of fat and lean mass. If your goal is fat loss, muscle gain, or body recomposition, knowing what your weight is made of can be much more useful than simply knowing what you weigh.
Can I lose fat without losing weight?
Absolutely. If you’re losing body fat while gaining lean muscle, your scale weight may change very little even though your body composition is improving. This is precisely why we’re not emotionally attached to your bathroom scale. It’s one measurement—not the Supreme Court of your fitness progress.
How often should I get an InBody scan?
For many people actively working toward body-composition goals, scanning approximately every 4–6 weeks can provide enough time for meaningful trends to emerge. People in maintenance or making slower changes may wait longer. Daily or weekly body-composition scans usually create more noise than useful information. Your body isn’t releasing software updates every Tuesday.
How much does an InBody scan cost at Forward Thinking Fitness?
An InBody Body Composition Scan at Forward Thinking Fitness is currently $99 and includes the scan, a review of your results, and professional recommendations for what to do next. For qualifying first-time visitors, that $99 can currently be applied toward customized FTF services, turning your measurement into a starting point rather than another piece of paper destined for a drawer.
Do I have to be an FTF personal training client to get an InBody scan?
No. You can schedule an InBody scan as a standalone service even if you aren’t currently a personal training client. If the results reveal areas you’d like to improve, we can discuss appropriate next steps—but nobody is going to tackle you at the door with a membership contract. We don’t even sell traditional memberships.
Can an InBody scan tell me whether I'm gaining muscle?
InBody measurements can help estimate changes in lean mass over time, which can be useful when evaluating a muscle-building program. The key word is TREND. Body-composition measurements have normal variability, so we look at repeated measurements alongside your training performance, nutrition, and other progress markers rather than treating one scan like it descended from the heavens.
Can I exercise at Forward Thinking Fitness if I have injuries or physical limitations?
Potentially, yes, depending on your individual circumstances and medical needs. We review your health history before prescribing your training plan and modify exercises around your abilities when appropriate. If something falls outside our scope or we believe you should see another healthcare professional first, we’ll tell you. Getting you healthier is more important than getting you onto our schedule.
Is an InBody scan useful if I'm taking a GLP-1 medication?
It can be especially useful because substantial weight loss may include changes in both fat mass and lean mass. Tracking body composition gives you another way to evaluate your progress beyond scale weight and can help inform conversations about strength training and nutrition while your medical provider manages your medication.
